Directories are different from search engines in that they have human editors who review each submitted site and decide which submission will end up as an actual listing.
As part of our service, we review each website before taking on directory submission campaign. We will scrutinize your site in much the same way a directory editor will and if necessary, provide you with a list of things that need fixing prior to submission.

Here's the checklist that we go over to see if your site is ready to be submitted –
No "Under Construction" pages Editors don't like to be bothered with sites that are still under construction. If most of your pages aren't ready yet, you should focus on finishing your site first. If you feel that your site is complete, but still have a few "under construction" page holders, it would be best to take them offline until you have the content for those pages. The end result should always be a complete website with no "under construction" pages at all.
No Dead LinksMake sure that all of the links on your site function properly. This is especially relevant to your navigation links. If any of your navigation (menu) links lead nowhere, either fix them or remove them from your website.
Pop-Ups and Other Intrusive AdvertisementWhile it's perfectly legitimate to have advertisements on your website, avoid bombarding your visitors with intrusive advertisements such as pop-ups, pop-unders, intermediate pages or ads that slide over your content. An excessive amount of these is a sure way of getting your site declined. It's best to keep the site without any of these intrusive ads, or at least no more than one, while your site in being reviewed for acceptance.
No RedirectsBe prepared to submit using the actual website address of your website. Do not redirect your visitors to another page as soon as the page loads. This is considered spam as it may mean you're registering multiple domain names all leading to one actual website.
Good Meta TagsMeta tags are HTML tags contained in the header of your HTML code. Meta tags are mostly invisible to the human end user. They are there to provide automated scripts with more information about your site, such as keywords and description. Years ago, search engines used to rely on meta tags to learn what the site's keywords and subject were.
While most search engines no longer take these tags into account, as they are too easy to manipulate, some directory scripts use them to quickly retrieve a site's description and keywords, and save you retyping them into submission forms. Some directories show you the collected meta tags information and allow you to make changes prior to submissions. Others simply pick up what they find in your meta tags and use that. That's why it is crucial that your meta tags do indeed reflect your correct title, keywords and description.
There are many types of meta tags, but you should be concerned only with three –
<title>Submit Pros - Directory Submission Services</title>
<meta name="description" content="Submit-Pros.com - professional directory submission services." />
<meta name="keywords" content="directory submissions, submit to directories, manual submission" />
Make sure your meta tags reflect your site's details correctly and with no spelling mistakes.
